 Floyd R. Myers, Sr. is the chairman of the board of directors of the Marshall Heights Community Development Organization, Inc. (MHCDO), a multi-service economic development organization that has increased pathways to wealth and homeownership in the Ward 7 area of Washington, DC since 1979.
Reared, educated, and churched in Ward 7, Myers is a graduate of the District of Columbia Public Schools and 23-year veteran of the Metropolitan Police Department. His tenure as an officer of the law has run the gamut of enforcement missions. From patrolman in 1986, he was promoted to the Executive Protection Unit, responsible for the safety and protection of DC’s First Family. As an investigator with the Drug Enforcement Unit in 1991, Myers orchestrated covert operations to infiltrate and terminate drug cartels ridding DC streets of drugs and related crime, and was responsible for over 8,000 arrests over the course of five years.
In 1995, Myers advanced to Detective, stationed at Ward 7’s Sixth District where he was named Detective of the Year. Five years later, he took on police corruption with the Office of Internal Affairs. He has since returned to the Sixth District, overseeing the safety and protection of Ward 7 neighborhoods. In 2007, Myers currently serves as a Detective in The Financial Investigations Unit, the main goal of FIU is to “take the profit out of crime!”
Myers has found success in real estate investment and development, honing entrepreneurial and community-building skills beneficial in his capacity as board member of MHCDO, where he joined in 1994. Elected chairman of the board in 2007, Myers’ professional and entrepreneurial experiences will inform his stewardship of the organization.
MHCDO’s mission is to help grow Ward 7 into the District of Columbia's most welcoming, prospering, livable community for everyone. MHCDO has successfully developed on its own or in partnership with others a 60-unit supportive housing facility, a 469-unit garden-style apartment complex, 220,000 square feet of retail/office space, 20,000 square feet of warehouse/industrial space, and over 150 homes sold to low- and moderate-income buyers.
Mr. Myers along with his wife Alicia Myers has grown their real estate portfolio from the purchase of their first home in 1986, to now serving 42 units of housing. The Myers’ also purchase and renovate homes for resale, providing homes for the low a moderate income.
We engaged in all aspects of real estate from acquisitions, ownership, development, finance, lease, sale and construction. We also, conducted all activities necessary incidentally or related to all of our current real estate holdings. Which include 4 multi unit buildings, 5 single family homes, and two condominiums. Our daily activities and responsibilities include but are not limited to, receiving, documenting and tracking the rental income from all the units listed above, arranging maintenance and repairs, and looking at cost analysis on current rents, and exploring new investments to continually grow FAM ENTERPRISES, LLC, and all other duties as assigned.
FAM ENTERPRISES, LLC, received an award from City First Bank of DC in 2003, to commend us on our work in the community, including our entrepreneurship and activism to preserve affordable housing and build neighborhood vitality.
FAM ENTERPRISES, LLC has also received The Baptist Community Development Award presented to us on May 24, 2004 for the work demonstrating the extraordinary impact, innovation and commitment that we have to community development in Washington, DC’s neighborhoods.
